Peer Learning Meetup
Why is it useful to introduce peer meetups?

How do peer meetups create impact?
We live in a complex world that, in its constant change, often seems to run ahead of us. Our attention is demanded everywhere. Many feel uneasy. Do we want—or do we have—to chase the “zigzagging hare”?
The “hare” stands for contradictions, incompatibilities, and the tensions they create between…
- paced, stressful day-to-day operations and the necessary work on the future, which rarely gets dedicated time
- the need to solve acute problems quickly and to develop robust long-term strategies
- current, familiar tasks and uncertain, future tasks
- long-standing experience and the dynamic learning demands of the here and now
- individual needs—everything that truly matters to someone—and the realities of the current work situation
- the desired organizational culture and the everyday experiences of collaboration
- the deep need for stability and predictability and the unwelcome uncertainties of change
- meetings that keep us from doing the work and the topics that actually need discussion
- the wish to be well-informed and the time pressure to distinguish the important from the trivial
Peer Meetups enable open exchange in regular sessions about current, business-critical challenges and practical solutions for day-to-day work. A typical group size is five to eight people, with a duration of two to three hours per meetup and an interval of four to eight weeks between sessions.
Setting up and running an (externally) facilitated Peer Meetup leads to…
- colleagues learning to advise each other on everyday work issues and sustainably strengthening their dialogue skills
- new leaders staying in dialogue as they successfully take on their new role(s)
- department-wide changes becoming discussable across hierarchies
- a team or leadership team strengthening its trusted collaboration
- a long-standing conflict being better managed through a series of constructive conversations
Peer Meetups create impact when…
- they work without a preset agenda
- the group actively encourages one another to speak about what is currently on their mind
- content impulses are picked up, shared, and developed further, and contradictions are tolerated in the discourse
- people truly listen to one another, stay with the topic, seek to understand, and build on ideas
Let’s take the first step together.
Every transformation begins with dialogue – sometimes with just one question, sometimes with a short exchange. Tell us what drives you. We listen carefully, provide fresh impulses, and help you discover effective paths to further develop your goals.
